Care of your Soap
My soaps have been formulated and made with love, but I want them to be used. I have cured and kept the soap, so that when you have newly purchased your soap it is ready to use straight away, and will stay nice and fresh for a few months and up to a year depending on how you store it before use.
Storing the soap before use
Don’t put it into plastic, as the soap will sweat, but keep in a paper bag or cardboard box in a cupboard or draw until you are ready to use it. However the fragrance will start to fade over time.
Unlike supermarket “soap” which can be stored for years due to some of their hardeners and synthetic ingredients, handmade soaps do have a shelf life. My soaps are made with good quality oils and butters, which do deteriorate over time, correct storage can prolong the life of a soap.
Prolonging the life of the soap once using it.
When you start to use your soap there are things that can prolong it’s use. Using a shower puff or washcloth instead of rubbing the soap directly on your body will help your soap last longer as you use less to get a great lather.
Your soap needs to dry out between uses. Don’t leave it sitting in water, or getting wet from the shower stream as the soap will go mushy and melt quickly.
One way to prolong the life of the soap is to cut your bar or cupcake in half and use on alternate days, or if you have more than one soap, rotate them.
A well-draining soap dish is a great way to elevate it out of water and to assist the drying in between uses.

You have paid good money for a quality product, you want it to last as long as possible.
But do enjoy the soap, they are luxurious and quality!
